Frugal Living: Cleaning Cloths
By Melafwife Turn an old tablecloth into cleaning cloths. I bought this tablecloth 2 years ago for $1 at a yard sale, I cannot longer use it for that purpose, but the thick cotton made some excellent cloths for the kitchen or dusting...
Cut an old tablecloth into squares or rectangles (the size is up to you) and sew a simple seam around the fabric.
I have also made placemats, napkins and aprons out of old tablecloths.
Many Blessings,
Melanie

Baby Wash Cloths
By MelafwifeDon’t throw away those old towels.
Cut them into small pieces, sew some soft flannel to the back and turn them into baby wash cloths.
Or turn those towels into absorbent burp cloths.

Return of the Scrunchie
By MelafwifeI am not ashamed to say it: I love scrunchies!
Since scrunchies are not considered fashionable they come mostly in black and little variations.
I am very happy to have found this tutorial to make my own!

Burp in Style
By Melafwife Why not burp in Style?
Great for using up all that leftover fabric, I used flannel and soft cotton. For the backside I used terry cloth and some leftover fleece.
Choose a colorful, decorative pattern for one side and an absorbent fabric for the backside. I prefer terry cloth; you can also use Gerber cloth diapers.
-Cut 2 pieces 12X24 inches.
-Pin right side together.
-Beginning in the middle of one of the long sides, back stitch and sew around the blanket, leave an opening to turn cloth.
-Turn right side out. Straighten out the hole in the side and pin it closed, even with the rest of the fabric.
-Start sewing a top stitch right next to the edge sewing the hole closed first and continuing around the entire cloth.

crayon roll
By Melafwife
Most of the gifts for Christmas this year are going to be homemade. I love this crayon roll for little ones. I will adapt the pattern to make chap stick/lipstick rolls and pencil rolls as well.
Here is the link for the pattern and tutorial: http://chocolateonmycranium.blogspot.com/2008/04/crayon-roll-tutorial.html
